Italian pianist Igor Roma came to international prominence after winning First Prize and the Critics’ Prize at the prestigious Franz Liszt International Piano Competition in Utrecht, a distinction that marked the beginning of an important international concert career.

Born in Baden, Switzerland, he studied at the Conservatory Arrigo Pedrollo of Vicenza, where he graduated with highest honors under the guidance of Carlo Mazzoli. He later continued his advanced studies at the Accademia Pianistica Internazionale Incontri col Maestro in Imola, working with Franco Scala, Lazar Berman, Boris Petrushansky and Alexander Lonquich. Prior to his success in Utrecht, he had already distinguished himself in several major international competitions, receiving Sixth Prize at the Dublin International Piano Competition, Fifth Prize at the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition and Fifth Prize at the prestigious Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition. His concert career has taken him throughout Europe as well as to the United States, China and South Africa. He has collaborated with conductors including Stanisław Skrowaczewski, Reinbert de Leeuw, Ton Koopman, Philippe Herreweghe, Jaap van Zweden and Josep Pons, appearing as soloist with major orchestras such as the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

Alongside his solo career, he has developed a strong commitment to chamber music, collaborating with ensembles such as the Brodsky Quartet, the Daniel Kwartet and the Quatuor Danel. Among his most significant artistic partnerships is his collaboration with pianist Enrico Pace, with whom he has performed as a piano duo since the early 2000s. This long-standing partnership of more than two decades has led to performances in major international venues, including the Lincoln Center and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw. In recent years, he has also established a fruitful collaboration with pianist André Gallo, focusing on projects for two pianos and other innovative concert initiatives. His discography includes the CDs Romantic Pieces for Piano and Encores.

Alongside his performing career, he is actively engaged in teaching. Since 2013 he has been a faculty member of the Accademia Pianistica Internazionale Incontri col Maestro, and since 2021 he has served as Professor of Piano at the Conservatory of Vicenza.
