Kaori Uemura is a Japanese gambist specializing in the baroque repertoire.

Kaori Uemura began playing the violin at the age of 3 and moved to the viola da gamba at 12, with the pioneer of the viol in Japan, Toshinari Ohashi.

Coming to Belgium, she became a student of Wieland Kuijken at the Brussels Conservatory, of Rainer Zipperling and of Philippe Pierlot, with whom she regularly met within the baroque ensemble Ricercar Consort. Thus she plays and records with the ensembles Ricercar Consort, Les Arts Florissants, Les Talens Lyriques, Le Poème harmonique, L’Armonia Sonora (Mieneke van der Velden), Spes Nostra (Jérôme Hantai), etc.

Since 2021-2022, Kaori Uemura has been a viol teacher at the Brussels Conservatory.
