First cello super soloist of the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra in Paris since 1984, Eric Levionnois also taught for a short period at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris where he himself was a student at the age of 14 years with André Navarra and Philippe Muller.
He has played as a soloist under the batons of Marek Janowski, Armin Jordan and Myung-Whun Chung and in chamber music with numerous partners such as Jean Hubeau, Jean-Pierre Wallez, Anner Bylsma, Catherine Collard, Guillaume Sutre, Nikolaj Znaider, Bertrand Chamayou, as well as Svetlin Roussev and Myung-Whun Chung with whom he played Beethoven’s triple concerto at the closing concert of the Rostropovich Festival in the Great Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow.
He has also participated in all the major jazz festivals in Europe, Russia, Asia, North America, Australia, with accordionist Richard Galliano, partner for nearly 20 years.
